Space Savers For Your Bedroom

Space Savers For Your Bedroom

Last week, we discussed layout tips and tricks for your bedroom.  However, even the most well planned space can falter when faced with clutter.  With that in mind, we wanted to take some time this week to discuss bedroom storage solutions.  Here are our helpful hints to take your room from a dumping ground of clothes, books, and accessories to the calming retreat that your bedroom should be. Bench Your Clutter: A storage bench is a must-have for any bedroom.  Whether you select a bench with built-in storage, like this classic unit from Crate & Barrel, or a simple stand alone piece that can have baskets slid under it for additional room, benches serve double-duty.  Store your gear under it and sit on top of it to pull on your socks and shoes – two uses, one versatile piece of furniture! Take Advantage Of Nooks & Crannies: Take advantage of all of your room’s nooks and crannies by finding the perfect shelves for your space.  Also keep in mind that custom cabinets can be a great solution for abandoned corners or underutilized alcoves.  Under bed storage is also a great, often overlooked, area to store extra linens or out of season clothing.  Purchase a few shallow, roll-away storage bins to take advantage of this tucked away area, while also keeping dust off your goods.  Or attach a set of casters to your standard containers to make them more easily accessible. Carve Out Space: Does your bedroom just lack room for a storage unit altogether?  Carve out a space – literally – with a small set of shelves placed in a recessed wall niche.  Not only will you gain storage, the renovation will also give your room a new dynamic! Create Storage Solutions Out Of Your Furniture: For small spaces, make the most of your room’s available area by using your must-have furniture pieces for additional storage space.  For example, consider replacing your standard headboard with one that has a built-in bookcase or shelving.
