Building a Legacy: 45 Years in Business

Did you know that Homecare Inc is a family-owned business? Not even just that, but also a family legacy?

Founded in 1960 by Stanley Earl, Homecare’s primary focus has always been residential remodeling, with the occasional commercial project mixed in as they came up. Stanley managed building and construction, and his wife served as his company bookkeeper. Their son, Steve, grew up alongside the business and learned countless lessons from watching his parents work.

After graduating from Southwest High School in Minneapolis, Steve attended the U of M for college to pursue a career in Corporate Advertising. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, Steve started working for his dad until he found an advertising job. Instead, he fell in love with the family business, and has been with Homecare ever since!

Stanley taught Steve so much about running a company. The greatest nugget of wisdom he gleaned was, take care of your business and it will take care of you. Eventually, Stanley retired and officially passed the company down to Steve. Taking on the family business was not without its challenges, but Steve embraced that things in this industry are never the same from one day to the next.

Steve’s ethos is simple; residential remodeling is interpersonal at its core. What matters is how you treat people; from clients to tradespeople, everyone wants to be listened to and respected. It’s about building relationships based on mutual trust. Sure, Steve can’t always control if materials arrive on time, but he can go above and beyond to take care of his clients.

From the beginning, Homecare was ahead of the pack in their industry. They always hired their own in-house carpenters, instilling a unique sense of team loyalty. To this day, Steve still partners with a select group of subcontractors.

If there’s one thing Steve wants clients to know about him, it’s that he prides himself on being an honest contractor who cares about them and his team. His favorite parts of what he does are taking on tough building challenges and seeing satisfied clients at the competition of a project.

Thank you to all of our loyal clients, friends, and family for your continued support. We know that our celebrating 45 years in business is because of all of you!
