Homecare Inc. is celebrating 60 years in business this fall! What Stanely Earl started as a small family business in 1960 has grown into a 60-year legacy, carried on by his son, Steve Earl.

To mark this significant milestone, we decided to ask Steve a few questions about owning a family business, how he’s celebrating this exciting anniversary, and his favorite work memories. Read on below for his answers!

You’ve been in the business for a long time, what do you like most about your job?
The thing I like the most about my job is working with my customers, making their visions and ideas come to life. Changing someone’s home makes a real difference in their life!

Is there anything you’d like to say about this exciting milestone?
I certainly never thought our company would be celebrating its 60th anniversary when I started working for my dad! This industry often doesn’t have long-term survival rates, so I feel like we must be doing something right.

What are the advantages of remodeling with a small business?
I have always felt I can give people personalized service, and an individual working relationship, that you cannot get working with a large remodeler.

Any favorite projects or work memories?
I’ve loved being a part of all of the kitchen and bathroom projects I’ve completed over the years. Some of my favorite projects are the ones where my clients express the big difference our work has made in their homes. I like that our results are lasting, they’re a part of people’s lives for a long time.

Do you have a favorite memory of working alongside your parents?
My favorite memories of working with my Mom and Dad were when I learned how much effort they put into building the business. I got to see firsthand all of the sacrifices they made to have a company that was sustainable and successful – I’ve never forgotten that!
