While it is still snowing out, most of us are already thinking about spring! We look forward to the longer days and being able to spend more time outdoors. Along with all the spring cleaning there are also many things we should check inside and outside of our homes to ensure it is functioning property. Preventing or finding problems early on is usually a lot easier (and a lot less expensive) than finding them months, or even years from now. Here is a spring maintenance checklist for your home.
- Check/clean your gutters and downspouts
- Check your basement or crawl space for any seepage
- Check your attic for any winter leaks
- Check and adjust your thermostat and humidity settings
- Replace your furnace filter
- Check your smoke alarms
- Check your carbon monoxide detectors
- Check and clean your mechanical ventilation systems
- Check your property’s grade for proper drainage
- Clean and check your AC unit
- Inspect your roof for any winter damage
- Open your outside water connection
- Check your exterior paint for possible peeling
