Preparing Your Home For A Graduation Party

Preparing Your Home For A Graduation Party

Are you the parent or family member of a proud 2012 graduate?  As you are preparing to celebrate your graduate’s accomplishments, you are likely planning a party!  One of the keys to a successful celebration is offering plenty of space to accommodate guests, family and friends.  Luckily graduation season falls in the spring – the perfect time for a home remodel!  Expand your space with one of these renovation ideas:  ADD A SCREENED PORCHEnclosed porches serve as great transitional areas between the inside and outside of the house.  If your home does not yet have one, consider an addition as one of your first home improvement projects of the spring.  Choose a flooring material that is easy to clean and functional such as concrete, slate or tile.  Add comfortable seating for easy conversation and potted plants to bring the outdoors in!  INVEST IN AN OUTDOOR KITCHENThe kitchen is often considered the heart of the home, so what better way to bring your home outdoors than with an outdoor kitchen?  Outdoor kitchens can be as simple or as high-tech as you desire.  However, most are commonly built up from a concrete slab and centered around a grill.  Additional amenities could include a refrigerator, sink, food prep area or wood fired pizza oven.  Secure stainless-steel metal framework to the patio base that will hold these kitchen appliances and cabinets.  If your budget doesn’t allow for full-scale plumbing, create a water supply with a garden hose and sink attachments.  INSTALL A DECKConsider installing a deck for added party space!  If you choose this option, your first thing to consider will be whether you want a second-story or ground level deck – both of which offer great options.  For example, second-story decks serve double duty – increasing party space upstairs, while also providing a shaded spot below for additional entertaining area.  Alternately, ground level decks can be built with or without railings, leaving design options and aesthetics more open to interpretation. If you are still in need of additional entertaining expansion options, check out our Exteriors Gallery for past projects we have worked on.  When you are ready to get started on your exterior renovation, contact Homecare Inc. to get your project underway, just in time to celebrate with the class of 2012!
